Biography

Upon graduation from Yale in 1981, Greg immediately went to law school at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, CA. While attending law school, following his graduation and upon his acceptance to the CA State Bar, Greg worked for Ropers Majeski, one of the largest insurance defense litigation firms in San Francisco. Later in his early career, Greg moved his practice to Los Angeles and went to work for a midsized Santa Monica firm continuing with his litigation practice and ultimately was admitted to practice and had cases before courts all over the state of California, in every US District Court in California, in the 9th Circuit Ct. of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

After getting married, Greg moved to the more family-friendly Sacramento metropolitan area and pursued his desire to focus on cases involving real estate law. He went to work for the Trainor firm, a well-known firm in Sacramento that exclusively represents real property owners, developers, contractors and others, and developed deep experience in all aspects of real estate law, particularly as they involved litigated disputes.

Greg’s interest in directly representing clients from the intake of their matters through settlement or trial caused him to eventually move his practice to a small firm partnership and ultimately to form his own law firm, which he has successfully operated since 1998.  At this point in his career, Greg had tried cases before courts and juries throughout the state of California and had developed a deep understanding of the settlement process, particularly concerning the use of mediation in litigated disputes which was in its earliest stages of development in the California court system.

An interest in moving away from a full-time litigation practice to something more oriented towards helping clients with their estate and business planning eventually resulted in Greg’s decision in 2015 to attend night school at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, while still working full time. Greg eventually obtained his Master of Laws (LLM w/ Honors) in 2018 in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law, and eventually resulted in his becoming acknowledged as a CA State Bar Certified Specialist in that area in 2020.

Among other things, Greg has served as a Member of the Sacramento County Planning Commission, including as its Chair in 2011-2012, and currently serves as Court-Appointed Counsel for the Sacramento Superior Court in guardianship and conservatorship matters. Greg has been married to his wife Barbara since 1987, and has 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
